Five on it: your weekly music round-up

29 Mar 2019

As ever we could just shout out Nao (her Tiny Desk and her Colors both landed this week and wow) – okay, technically we just shouted out Nao. But beyond one of our faves, here is our music round-up with five things we’ve been loving this week that you should immerse yourselves in over the weekend.

Kelsey Lu – ‘Blood’

After announcing last week that her debut album would be landing on 19 April, the North Carolina cellist and pop artist has put out this soaring number with a colourful, animated lyric video.

Joy Crookes – ‘Since I Left You (Demo)’

With vocals that glide like silky plumes of smoke while she sings of letting go of a lost love, the latest from the Bangladeshi-Irish Londoner is absolutely beautiful.

LION BABE – Cosmic Wind

Breezy, soul and disco-infused bops, this is a gleaming second album from the New York duo, featuring the likes of Raekwon and Leikeli47. [Spotify]

Falana – Chapter One EP

This emerging Nigerian-Canadian is making immersive enticing sounds that fuse pop and soul and sweet guitars. As the name kind of tells you, Chapter One is her debut EP, and is an exciting primer for what’s to come. [Spotify]

[ K S R ] – Unfiltered EP

This Manchester crooner (real name Roosevelt Kazaula Sigsbert) has the most gorgeous voice, and this is a delicious EP to sink into.
