Carinya Sharples is a freelance journalist from south-east London currently living in Guyana. She writes (mostly) and produces radio pieces (occasionally) about the environment, social issues, arts and culture for the BBC World Service, Mongabay, Visit Guyana and others. In between, she writes about identity, Guyana and travel on her Humming of the Bird blog.
