gal-dem is putting on a free workshop with Kickstarter to help develop your secret project

31 Mar 2019

We’ve all been there – sitting with a burning idea for a project that we know will pop off and change the world. But the next step after this initial lightning strike of genius is often the hardest. How do you turn your ideas into tangible plans that are going to reach who you want them to?

An upcoming workshop hosted by gal-dem and Kickstarter is aiming to encourage and support creative women of colour and non-binary people of colour to raise funds, connect with audiences and bring their creative projects to life.

On the night, you’ll hear from people who have run successful Kickstarter crowdfunds, connect with other creatives and get advice from the team on everything from project ideas and build, amplifying live projects through newsletters and how to use social media to develop a campaign.

Speakers include Maliha Abidi, artist and creator of the book Pakistan for Women, Aki Schilz of The Literary Consultancy, Sumuyya Khader from handmade tableware company Granby Workshop and gal-dem’s founder, Liv Little

We welcome projects from a variety of categories, including art, comics, dance, design, film, journalism, photography, publishing, technology, and theatre.
