Sometimes a presentation is the best way to get your collection’s message across and for Canadian designer steventai, this was exactly the case. Whilst the weather outside the BFC show space remained indecisive, inside tai presented his ‘anywhere but here’ collection that echoed the sunny seaside beaches with refreshments such as lemonade, fruits and canapés being offered out.
Perfectly poised against oversized-striped umbrellas, models sat in deck chairs and posed as onlookers snapped every inch of the embroidered pieces from the collection. Block colours and nautical stripes remained the focus with favourites being the navy tailored short-sleeve blazer, and matching culottes fastened by a silk ribbon that created a off-duty flair for those breezy days. Sheer silk-organza shirts and asymmetrical-striped tops took centre stage, putting a vibrant twist on spring summer favourites.
A collection that was bursting with just the right dose of energy for a Sunday afternoon, steventai showcased relaxed looks that could be worn throughout the day. Easy-to-wear designs came to life this season in playful hues of colour.
